To me this image speaks a lot about fear, fear of the unknown, fear of trying, fear of standing up... Fear in general. I deliberately shot this image with the intention to portray what fear does to our minds and how it can keep us captured in one place, backed up against a wall when all we need to do is take one step in the right direction to be able to stand up and move on.

Oh wow, thank you Danie, Your interpretation of the image makes so much more sense than Shooting with intention is much more difficult than I ever would've thought and I love learning all the ins and outs of it. I am really still struggling with the technicalities of portraying what I am trying say through my images but it will come eventually. I will keep working hard at my visual language skills. Thank you so much for the feedback. I am now thinking of a new name for this shot, even though I tried to shoot it with a specific key-word and failed. One step closer to getting it right.

I like this image, but to me it tells the story of a person overcoming fear. The action looks like "getting up" rather than "cowering down". You have also chosen to lower the contrast, crushed shadows would communicate mystery but the detail implies a level of awarenss and there are no unknowns. The subject is also up on the wall and not down in the pit on either side.

This image is gorgeous, but I disagree about your interpretation.

Your subject has a certain elegance and the arms against the wall, for me, indicates that she is pushing bravely away from the wall. Her facial expression is also not quite conveying the idea of fear. Typically, fear will be indicated tough a wide-eyed stare, furrowed brows, clenched mouth, biting of the lips, and then clenched fists...

Then also the amount of negative space surrounding your subject leaves also leaves a sense of freedom, which with the natural elegance of her gesture defies the fear you wanted to convey.
